Workers’ Accident Compensation Insurance

The purpose of this insurance is to protect workers and their families when a worker suffers a work-related injury, illness or death. The employer bears all the costs on behalf of the worker. The insurance also applies to foreign nationals employed by a company. You are eligible for various types of compensation if you suffer a work-related injury, illness or death, or are involved in an accident on your way to work. Claims should be made to the Labor Standards Inspection Office. If you believe you have suffered a work-related accident, contact your nearest Labor Standards Inspection Office.

Employment Insurance

The employment insurance program provides financial support for a limited period to workers who are currently unemployed while they look for a new job. Premiums are paid for by both employers and workers. To receive unemployment benefits under this system, you must have been enrolled in employment insurance for at least twelve months of the two-year period prior to the day you left your job. The amount of unemployment benefits and the number of days you can receive them for is determined by such factors as the period you were covered by employment insurance, your salary, your age, and the reason for unemployment.
Ask your nearest Hello Work office for details such as how to apply for unemployment benefits.
