Influenza Alert (February 1, 2008)

The number of patients with influenza is increasing rapidly.
Please take care not to be infected.

What is an influenza alert?

An alert is issued if the number of patients with influenza admitted to 47 designated medical facilities in Kagawa reaches an average of 30 patients in one week. The alert indicates a widespread outbreak of influenza, or the continuation of an outbreak. The average number of patients reached 26 (1,222 across all 47 facilities) in the week of January 21-27. Though this number is not yet at the 30 specified in alert notification procedures, outbreaks at schools and the like have led to predictions of a rapid increase in patient numbers, and thus an early prophylactic release of the alert.
