The 2nd Shikoku 88-Temple Circuit Experience For Foreigners
The 1st one took place at Goshikidai. This time, the foreigners living in Kagawa walked along the pilgrimage road around Zentsuji Temple.
Most of the foreigners who participated in the event were ALTs who came to Kagawa on JET program and who teaches English at elementary schools, junior high schools and senior high schools. It was fine that day and we walked nearly 17 km, starting from Doryuji Temple. We covered Konzoji Temple, Mandaraji Temple, Syussakaji Temple, Koyamaji Temple and Zentsuji Temple. That was a pleasant hiking.

At Doryuji Temple, No. 77, Koji Katagiri, Associate Director at Lifelong Learning and Cultural Assets Division, talked about Shikoku 88 Temples Circuit.

Daniel Chamberlin, one of the participants, had already visited many temples and he talked about his experience.

Many of them had been interested in Shikoku 88-Temple Circuit and they had the name of the temple and its principal image written in India ink in the sutra book and had it stamped.

At the head temple, Zentsuji, Mr. Sakata, the Treasurer, preached a sermon for them. After burning incense for the soul of the deceased and Kaidan-Meguri (walking the underground of the main building), he lectured at the treasure house, too.
