New and Transfer JET Programme Participants "The Way of Tea" Experience (August 20, 2009)

After attending a welcome ceremony with the Kagawa Governor Manabe, the 9 new Kagawa ALTs and 1 transfer CIR participated in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, also known as "The Way of Tea," at the Chujo Cultural Foundation tearoom near IPAL.

After meeting the instructors and special guests for the event, the ALTs and CIR from America, Canada, and Scotland listened to an explanation of the history and process of Japanese tea ceremony.  Then they made and drank green tea. Finally, everyone took a tour of the tearoom gardens and traditional buildings.

It was a great cultural event as well as a good way to relax after a long, busy day.
