堤多聞ヘルナンドさんからの手紙

My name is Hernando Tamon Tsutsumi. I came to Kagawa to study graphic design in 1999. At the time I was 21, this year I will turn 29. Studying in Kagawa was a wonderful experience, and I have many good emories of my time there. As an individual and also for my work, my time in Kagawa was very valuable and I gained some important cultural insights. The thing I found to be most important to the success of my internship was the opportunity to look at graphic desgin from a different perspective to my Brazilian training. This was very interesting to me. The originality of the Japanese is fantastic, and even now I use this inspiration as a foundation for the projects I work on.

In actual fact, I am not currently working as a graphic designer.Instead I work for Sanyo Electronics Brazil, in Sao Paulo, and a market analyst. However, alongside my current job, I am involved in an education project which involves graphic design. This is in the form of e-learning, or distance learning. I am currently involved with a project at the University of Sao Paulo to create educational materials for brazilians living and working in Japan.

I am very thankful to Kagawa Prefecture for teh opportunity you gave me. I think it is wonderful that you take interns from around the world, and I hope that in the future you continue to raise the ability levels of interns, and perfect their knowledge of their chosen fields.

私は、堤多聞ヘルナンドと申します。1999年にグラフィックデザインの研修で香川県にまいりました。当時は21歳でした。

研修は非常に実り多い経験でしたし、たくさんの思い出を作ることもできました。個人的には、そして職業的にも、とても有意義で価値のある文化的財産を得ることができました。研修の成果という点においては、ブラジルとは異なるアングルからグラフィックデザインを学んだという意味で、非常に興味深いものでした。日本人の独自性はファンタスティックで、それは現在も私が取り組んでいるプロジェクトの土台として役立っています。

現在、実際のところデザイン分野では仕事をしておらず、首都サンパウロにある在ブラジル日系企業、三洋電機のマーケティングアナリストとして勤務しています。しかし、その職務と並行して、教育にかかわるグラフィックデザインを含むプロジェクト、つまり、E-ランニングで知られるような、遠隔指導等のプロジェクトに携わっています。現在は、ウスピ(サンパウロ大学）の教授らと共同で、日本での出稼ぎ者を対象とし、彼らの現実的な需要に即した教育指導教材を開発するとい社会的なプロジェクトを展開しています。

香川県が私にあのような機会を提供してくださったことを深く感謝いたします。また、他の多くの研修生らにも、その能力を向上させたり、あるいは完成させたりするチャンスに恵まれることを期待します。
