Konpirasan Festival ~ Konpira Shrine(Kotohira Town)

Known for its sea god, Konpira shrine, known more affectionately as Konpira-san, holds a large festival from the9th to the11th of October. You can see portable shrines and people dressed beautifully in traditional costumes.
When the leaves turn red in November, the Autumn leaf festival is held to welcome them. Why don’t you try climbing the 785 stone steps to the main temple, or the 1386 steps to the inner temple? Checking out the shops selling local souvenirs along the climb is great fun!
