I gave a 90 minute presentation about fun and interesting math in IPAL. I received a master degree after studying math for 7 years at the University of Oregon, University of Bristol (England), Auburn University, and the University of Wisconsin. My field of study was topology.
I began the presentation with a short self introduction about my experience with math and then showed the 1959 classic Disney short animation, "Donald Duck in Mathemagic Land." This cartoon is very interesting and it explains the math contained in music, billiards, the golden rectangle and other things. Although this cartoon is for children, adults can learn a lot from the video.

Next, I quickly explained the different areas of math including number theory, algebra, analysis, topology and combinatorics. After that I talked about some interesting math problems. The class learned that if there are 23 people in a room, the probability of 2 people having the same birthday is over 52%! I also taught the class how to count to 1024 on their fingers.

Although many people say that math is difficult or boring, through this presentation, we saw that math can be very fun and interesting.
