International Student Housing Joint Guarantor Support System

In Japan, a joint guarantor is required for renting an apartment. If you are an international student studying at a school registered with the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (Kagawa University, Takamatsu University, Takamatsu Junior College, National Institute of Technology Kagawa College), the Kagawa Prefecture International Exchange Association can serve as a joint guarantor when you sign a rent contract. Once you have found a place to live, apply for the Comprehensive Renters’ Insurance for Foreign Students Studying in Japan through your school coop. (This insurance program is designed to cover unexpected emergencies, such as fires, and to protect the joint guarantor.) Bring the receipt for the insurance, a letter of recommendation from your school, and three copies of the rent contract to I-PAL Kagawa. Please see our website or the website of your school for more details.
