KJ200607: Summer in Sanuki (2/3)

Obon(Bon Festival)and Summer Festivals : Summer truly arrives at the end of July when the rainy season finally comes to an end. The children go on summer holidays.

During the Obon holiday(even though it is not a national holiday, some offices and shops take days off, usually from August 13th to 16th, but it depends on the region), the roads and public transportation are crowded with city dwellers in a rush to return to their hometown.

Summer festivals are also held during this period. It is not unusual to see people going to Bon Festival Dances, or to see firework displays, dressed in yukata(summer cotton kimono).
