International Speech Contest in Japanese

 

At our i-pal Kagawa, the "International Speech Contest in Japanese" is held every August or September.  This "International Speech Contest" is held in order for foreign residents to have the opportunity to speak in Japanese about their views on Kagawa and / or Japan. The object of this contest is to broaden the minds of the people of Kagawa on multiculturalism, to promote better mutual understandings and nurture friendly relationships between Japanese people and foreigners.

We are waiting for your entry as a speaker and / or attending as the audience.

The work-flow to the main speech contest

1 Applications for the contest will be accepted starting May.
2 Accepting of the applications will be ended by the beginning of July.
3 A preliminary selection will be made after a hearing review of the speeches.
4 The main speech contest will be held in August or September.

The summary of the applications

I. Speech topic
Any topic in accordance with the guidelines of the contest (related to Kagawa and/or Japan)
II. Eligibility
Any foreign resident living in Kagawa
III. Application
Mail, e-mail or hand delivers the following items 1-3 to our office, Kagawa Prefecture International Exchange Association (If you send the application by e-mail with huge data, we may not receive your e-mail.  After sending e-mail, please call our office

1. The completed application form
*The application form is available online
2. The speech recorded on a CD, tape or digital file format (mp3, aac, m4a, wma, or wmv, less than 5 MB)
*Please record your name, nationality and title before recording the speech
*Speech length should be 5-7 minutes
3. A copy of the speech manuscript

V. Preliminary selection: A preliminary selection will be made after a hearing review of the speeches according to our judging criteria

VI. Judging criteria: The relevance of the chosen subject, language proficiency, presentation during the speech (facial expressions, gestures, body language...), and comprehension of the chosen subject. The content of your speech should not only be your impressions or thoughts but should also be a statement of your own ideas and opinions.

The persons who pass the preliminary selection (about 10 persons) should participate in the main contest as explained in the URL.  This contest is open freely to all.  So, we would appreciate it if you come the i-pal Kagawa as a participant or as the audience.
