2009 Archive

On January 23, 2008, I did an International Understanding Class on the topic of making burritos.  Here I introduced burritos, a food in which rice, pinto beans, peppers, onions, chicken, and cheese are mixed and wrapped in a tortilla.  They are hugely popular not only in Mexico but also in the U.S.  All of the guests at the class were excellent cooks, who caught on quickly.  In the end, the burritos they made were better than mine!  Once the burritos were made, we all sat down together and enjoyed eating them with a side of chips and salsa.

ALTs who came to Kagawa on JET program and who teaches English at elementary schools, junior high schools and senior high schools experienced calligraphy as a cross-cultural understanding on the second day of the seminar. This seminar is held every winter. In the morning, they tried to make Shikishi and Hanko made of an erazer after learning basic knowledge. In the afternoon, they made a work using cork boards and table sheets and acrylic paint.
