2009 Archive

On August 20, 2009, The new JET Program participants for the 2009-2010 term had a courtesy visit with Governor Manabe.  Everyone talked about their individual goals for their time in Kagawa, and it was a really fun atmosphere in which to participate.  Many of the new participants speak Japanese very fluently, which made my job that much easier!

JET Participants, who were newly appointed or who had a change of appointment during July and August, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor. They were invited through the JET Programme for the purpose of promoting international exchange and enhancing foreign language education for Kagawa Prefecture.

(August 11,12, 2009)

Artists interested in displaying art at the Setouchi International Art Festival in 2010 took a 2 day tour around the islands of the Seto Inland Sea on August 11th and 12th.  Both days were hot, but it was great weather for a tour of 5 of the islands in the inland sea.  Jeremy Lanig from the International Affairs Division and Juliana Watanabe, an Overseas Technical Trainee, were interpreters during the tour.

Making Animal Decorations

On August 5, 2009, I held an exchange event with 15 elementary and middle school students at the Obe Jidokan in Tonosho Town.  I introduced an easy and fun children's song, and then we all tried singing it together in English. After that, we made cute animal decorations out of felt.  It was a pleasure to see everyone working so hard to make their crafts, and the dog decorations turned out especially well.

Mr. Jeremy Lanig, who transferred from Assistant language Teacher (ALT) to Coordinator for International Relations (CIR), and Mr. Christopher McCabe, who renewed his contract for the second year as a CIR, received written appointments from the Governor. Both CIRs are from the USA. They were invited to participate in JET programme for the purpose of promoting international exchange for Kagawa Prefecture.
